Gang-rape arrests
Paradip: Police on Tuesday arrested three persons for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl. The main accused, Narendra Sahu of Hindol in Dhenkanal, had taken the victim, a native of Jagatsinghpur district, to Bhubaneswar on the pretext of giving her a job. In Bhubaneswar, the accused and two of his associates - Ashok Behera and Sukant Nayak - allegedly raped her.
Man kills wife
Rourkela: A 40-year-old man allegedly shot his wife dead at Chakramal village in Sundargarh and surrendered before police. The accused, Sanjeeb Nayak, was married to Mamata, 35, and used to have frequent arguments with his wife.
Sundargarh assistant superintendent of police S.P. Patel said: “We have not found any concrete motive behind the murder of the woman. It seems the accused has committed the crime in a fit of rage.”
Bail granted
Bhubaneswar: Rishab Kumar Tripathy, the owner of the bus, which had fell off the Manitri Bridge, killing 19 and injuring more than 30 persons, was granted bail by the Angul district and sessions judge court on Tuesday. All private bus owners and employees had gone on strike on September 26 demanding release of the owner Rishab Kumar Tripathy.
