Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to Puri shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati on a PIL related to prohibiting devotees from climbing the chariots and touching the deities during the annual rath yatra in Puri. The division bench of Justice Mahanty and Justice Chowdhury sought a response from the shankaracharya.

Harass cuffs

Bhubaneswar: A 26-year-old person was arrested by Saheed Nagar police for allegedly harassing a 19-year-old girl. The accused, Jitendra Behera, has allegedly been harassing the girl for the past one year.

Axe on cop

Bhubaneswar: Havildar Dibakar Sahu was on Tuesday suspended in connection with an incident in which former BJD MLA Subarna Naik was found using a mobile phone on a local court premises here. A disciplinary action has also been ordered against three constables who escorted Naik to court.

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday directed all the departments to enforce 3 per cent reservation for the disable people in all government jobs. Patnaik has also asked the social security and disability empowerment department to furnish a report on this every month.
