Maoist strike

Bhubaneswar: Security was beefed up in Malkangiri district during a 12-hour strike call by Maoists on Friday. The rebels had called the strike accusing the police of forcing innocent villagers to surrender as Maoist supporters.

Cuttack: Odisha Cricket Association has insured Barabati Stadium, its properties and the spectators for Rs 20 crore for the T20 International match between India and South Africa on October 5. This is the first T20 international match at the stadium.   

Clash

Bhubaneswar: Over 10 persons were injured following a clash between two groups at Nimabasant village under Delang police station in the district. The incident occurred during the Ganesh idol immersion ceremony. A police vehicle and two motorcycles were also torched. Police deployed one platoon to restore peace.
