Dengue victim Bail rejected CM review  Bear attack Accident Compensation

Dengue victim

Cuttack: A 32-year-old dengue patient died at SCB Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Hemnta Jena of Dwarika village under Nilgiri block in Balasore. Jena was working in Delhi when he was afflicted by dengue fever and was admitted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack after his condition worsened.

Bail rejected

Cuttack: A court here rejected the bail plea of Anand Atma baba alias Alok Bisoi on Wednesday and sent him to jail. Bisoi is the main accused in the ashram murder case at Salepur in Cuttack district. Earlier in the day, he was presented in the judicial magistrate first class court of Salepur after his two-day remand got over.

CM review 

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday reviewed the scenario of the water-borne diseases in the state. He has asked the medical colleges and hospitals to provide free treatment to patients and also to make sure that facilities are readily available at the centres. Around 40,000 Accredited social health activist (Asha) workers have been trained to provide treatment as well.

Bear attack

Balasore: A 52-year-old man is undergoing treatment after being bit by a bear in Nilgiri. The victim, identified as Manu Parida of Mirigini, was attacked by the animal while he was out.

Accident

Balasore: Vehicular traffic on NH-5 was disrupted for more than three hours following the death of a college student in a road mishap near Soro. The deceased has been identified as Sidharth Jena, a second year Plus Three student of Khaira College, while his batch-mate Badal Sankhua sustained injuries after they were hit by a truck. An angry mob also set the vehicle, which hit the motorcycle of the deceased, ablaze.

Compensation

Kendrapara: Kendrapara district administration on Wednesday handed over Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the parents of Laxman Chandra Rout, who committed suicide along with his wife by jumping off a building in New Delhi on September 8 after their seven-year-old son died of dengue. The government’s attitude towards the family had drawn criticism from various quarters.
