Rourkela: A 50-year-old man was trampled to death by a tusker in Thumabuda reserve forest under Hatibari police station on Sunday morning. The person, Raj Kumar Naik, had gone to the forest to collect wood and mushrooms.He was attacked on his way back.

Balasore: The headmaster of a state-run primary school got in a soup as a condolence meeting for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was held on the school premises. The incident took place in the UGUP school at Budakhunta village of Oupada block on Thursday.

Probe begins
Bhadrak: Bhadrak rural police on Sunday began an investigation into the alleged murder of a 16-year-old boy. The police exhumed his body following a complaint lodged by the parents of the boy. Manoj Jena was found dead on August 29 under mysterious circumstances.

Sambalpur: A 30-year-old man from Balaranga village, Pramod Bag, surrendered before the police on Saturday. He claimed that he had killed one Shankar Majhi,32. Sources said Bag killed Majhi following an altercation between the two after Bag tried to molest the latter’s sister-in-law.
Man held
Balasore: Simulia police arrested a person and seized 145 litres of adulterated diesel from his car near Maitapur. The accused, identified as Prabodh Nayak of Rusampur under Khaira police station, was earlier arrested on similar charges, the police said.
