Teachers’  dharna Poachers held Bravery Assembly Surrender

Teachers’  dharna

Bhubaneswar: Thousands of teachers under the banner of the Block Grant Secondary School Teachers and Employees’ Association on Tuesday staged a dharna outside the Assembly here, demanding takeover of the aided high schools under the government fold. They also demanded filling up of vacancies of the 1,576 posts of various categories in these schools.

Poachers held

Berhampur: A forest patrolling team, led by Samantiapalli ranger Rajanikanta Rout and forester Prasant Karji, on Tuesday arrested two poachers, Khali Nayak and Gurubaria Nayak, for killing an eight-year-old male deer weighting 50kg at the Tumba forest in Ganjam district, about 65 kilometre from the city.

Bravery

Kendrapara: An inland fisherman, Arikhit Mallick, saved a 70-year-old man, Yudhistir Jena, from drowning in the Gobari river. Yudhistir slipped while taking bath at Bijoynagar ghat.

Assembly

Bhubaneswar: The monsoon session of the Assembly began on Tuesday with the House condoling the death of former President APJ Abdul Kalam and former chief minister J.B. Patnaik.

Surrender

Rayagada: Two rebels belonging to the CPI (Maoist) surrendered before Rayagada police superintendent Siva 
Subramani. Both Rahul Gagaranga and Sunil Gagaranga belong to Tangadappa village.
