2 robbers arrested
Bhubaneswar: Police on Saturday arrested two members of a robbers’ gang that had robbed one Khetramohan Singh, a constable, of cash and the two-wheeler he was riding on Friday night. The arrested were identified as Manoj Singh, 24, and Jenta Singh, 25, both of Bhalukasuni village in the Berhampur (Nilgiri) police limits. Sub-divisional police officer S.R. Mahapatra said: “While two of them could be rounded up, four others managed to flee. They could have escaped into the forest.”
Naveen charged
Bhubaneswar: A police complaint has been lodged against chief minister Naveen Patnaik and director of vigilance K.B. Singh by former MP Kharavela Swain, alleging that the two had framed former director-general of polcie Prakash Mishra as he did not co-operate with the ruling party. Orissa High Court recently cleared Mishra of the charges and quashed the FIR against him.
New bus stand
Bhubaneswar: Commerce and transport minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi on Saturday visited the newly constructed bus stand at Malatipatpur on Puri outskirts. The state government has spent Rs 73.5 crore for the bus stand.
