Robbers arrested

Bhubaneswar: Khurda police on Friday arrested six members of a gang of robbers. They seized Rs 1 lakh in cash and sharp-edged weapons from them. The gang was involved in several cases of robbery and snatching in Khurda and nearby areas.

Child workers

Berhampur: Child Protection Committee and Childline rescued 22 child labourers from the city on Thursday. 
The children are all in the age group of eight to 15 and 20 of them are from Darbhanga in Bihar. Two brokers — Aghanu Sahani and Om Prasad Sahani — who were instrumental in bringing the children from Bihar, were taken into custody.

Call drop

Sambalpur: A delegation of the Progressive Sambalpur group met S.N. Naik, the general manager of Sambalpur telecom district of BSNL, regarding the erratic network connectivity and call drops across the district on Thursday evening. The general manager assured them that steps would be taken to sort out the problems.

Raid on mills

Balasore: Forest officials carried out raids on illegal saw mills at Hathigrah and seized wooden logs and machinery. The owners of the saw mill fled from the site.
