Orissa HC directive 

Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Wednesday directed Devashis Panda, former additional government advocate to appear before CBI officers in Bhubaneswar on April 2 and cooperate with the investigations related to the case involving the Artha Tatwa (AT) group, a deposit collection company accused of duping thousands of investors in the state. 

The single judge bench of S.K.Mishra issued the direction while hearing the anticipatory bail filed by Panda. He had come under the CBI scanner as he was reportedly involved in the purchase of the house by former advocate general Asok Mohanty from AT group chief Pradeep Sethy.”

Minor raped 

Bhubaneswar: A five-year-old girl residing at a slum in Shastri Nagar under Kharvela Nagar police limits was allegedly raped by a youth of the same locality while the victim was alone at her house. The matter came to light on Wednesday  when the victim’s family members approached Kharvela Nagar station.

Policeman suspended

Bhubaneswar: Ashok Singh, assistant sub-inspector of police of Sahid Nagar police station, was suspended on Wednesday for abusing a complainant verbally four days ago during a spot verification. He was under the influence of alcohol. Senior police officials probed into the matter following a complaint agaist Singh. 

Construction

Bhubaneswar: The development authority will construct 2,880 houses in two phases for economically weaker sections of the population over an area of 20.83 acre land near Kanyashram at Niladri Vihar. The land has been made encroachment-free recently. 
The authority meeting on Wednesday also approved town-planning scheme for over 745 acres of area. 

Electronic hub

Bhubaneswar: An electronic manufacturing cluster will be set up at the city-based Infovalley by US Company M2i and Taiwan-based Wistron. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik.

Rogue cop

Bhubaneswar: A truck owner has alleged police atrocity on his driver and demanded strict action against the personnel of Badagada police station on March 21. 

“The assistant sub-inspector threatened my driver though he was transporting construction material with valid 
documents and also took Rs 2,000 from him,” said Chita Ranjan Acharya, the truck owner.
