Fire probe

Bhubaneswar: Ramachandran Subash, the prime accused in the fire incident in three express trains at Puri railway station on November 12, on Monday faced a polygraph test at the state forensic laboratory here. Sources said the accused was asked around 120 questions with the help of an interpreter. Sources also said Subash refused to co-operate during the polygraph test, which lasted for more than seven hours. Later in the day, he was taken to the special intelligence wing for further questioning.   

Cash stolen

Bhubaneswar: Criminals allegedly stole cash worth Rs 5 lakh by breaking the glass window of a car at Saheed Nagar on Monday afternoon. A businessman, Sisir Kanta Moharana, had kept the cash in the car and gone to a mobile repairing shop when the incident took place. Police have started an investigation into the matter.

Smile drive

Bhubaneswar: The Smiles of India journey kicked off here on Monday, in which Siddhartha Joshi, a photographer, would venture in and round the city in search of beautiful and heart-warming visual stories. These visual stories from various places across the state will be promoted across the world through the brand’s content platform. The campaign is a Spread a Smile drive that aims to capture and relay happy stories from around the country.

Bear attack

Balasore: A 50-year-old man is undergoing treatment at SCB Medial College and Hospital after he had suffered injuries in bear attack. The victim, Padmalochan Behera of Badapokhari under Oupada block, faced the attack.

Two killed

Sambalpur: A 27-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife and her friend at Kharsali in the Rairakhol police limits of the district on Sunday night. The accused, identified as Alekh Sandha of Kukudabahali, was arrested. The accused's wife has been identified as Mamita Behera, 24, and her friend Dukhi Munda, 24.

Special teams

Cuttack: Police on Monday formed special teams to nab the culprits behind the murder of liquor trader Binod Bihari Das, 35, alias Kutu who had been shot dead by two unidentified criminals barely 50 metres from his liquor shop on Sunday.
