Cuttack, Nov. 16: The anchor ring of the bridge that connects Dhabaleswar temple on an island in the Mahanadi with the mainland snapped today resulting in the structure shaking vigorously and giving pilgrims on it a scare.
The incident took place at Athgarh, 30km from here.
Around three lakh devotees had thronged the Shiv temple on the occasion of Bada Osha today.
“The anchor ring developed a crack and a technical team immediately took measures to fix the problem,” said Cuttack collector Girish S.N.
The district administration stopped the movement on the bridge for over one-and-a-half hours.
