Berhampur: Train movement was hit at Berhampur railway station to facilitate the construction of a foot overbridge on Monday.

The construction of the overbridge connecting platform No. 1 to 2 and 3 was completed on Monday. But, it took four-and-a-half hours to fit the assembled long steel blocks measuring 27.7 metres long over the bridge.

Station manager Manoj Lakra said that the passenger train, which shuttles between Bhubaneswar and Berhampur, was cancelled between Balugaon and Berhampur for the day because of the work.

The Secunderabad-Bhubaneswar Visakha Express, Vasco-da-gama-Howrah Amaravati Express and the Puri-Yesvantpur Garib Rath Express had to be halted at platform No. 3 and 4, instead of 1 and 2, he said.

In the process, the Puri-Gunupur and Gunupur-Puri trains also ran late.
