Bhubaneswar, March 18: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik termed the budget as "people's budget" and said the budget addressed the government's priorities, such as rural housing, rural connectivity, rural electrification, rural livelihood, food security and welfare of scheduled castes and tribes.

"It is a farmer-centric budget. The focus on agriculture and allied sector is visible as the outlay has increased by 20.89 per cent. Irrigation has received a major push," said Naveen.

He also termed the budget as investor friendly.

Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ramesh Mohapatra also termed the budget to be a good one with focus on social sectors.#

Opposition leader Narasingha Mishra, however, said: "The budget is disappointing for all sections of people. This government had promised 35 per cent irrigation to each block. It announced in 2008 that Rs 5 lakh would be provided to each village for irrigation. But nothing concrete has happened."

BJP state president Basant Panda said: "There is nothing new in the budget."
