Bhubaneswar, Aug. 12: Students, who have not been able to secure Plus Two admissions for want of original CBSE marksheets, would now be able to take provisional admission by signing an undertaking.
Higher education authorities have decided to make special concessions for those who have been placed in the first selection merit list, extending the deadline for submission of their marksheets and school-leaving certificates to September 15.
For the time being, they can produce a downloaded copy of the online marksheet, attested by the principal of the school concerned.
“Since these students were unable to submit their documents because of unavoidable circumstances, they would be allowed to take admission. However, they must report at their allotted centres by August 13, the last date for the first selection admissions. The higher education department has already notified the same on its website,” said Shuvada Mohanty, principal of BJB (Junior) College.
Sources said the grading pattern in CBSE schools was the reason behind the delay. According to the system, the grades awarded in all exams, including internal tests taken by a student in both Class IX and Class X, have to be converted to numbers for them to be admitted in junior colleges that follow a marking system.
Further, a Class X passout has to produce a school leaving certificate from the previous educational institution and the principal of the school concerned cannot issue the document unless the student produces the original marksheet.
“There may be isolated incidents. As far as my knowledge is concerned, the marksheets were sent to all CBSE schools by mid July,” said K.C. Satpathy, principal of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur.
The first selection admission round for the 1,334 junior colleges in the state began last week and would end on August 13.
While 2.55 lakh candidates were invited for admissions, so far only 1.44 lakh have taken admissions.
