Cuttack, May 10: Officials of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) published the revised marks of matriculation examination on six websites today, after facing criticism over faulty evaluation.

The revised marks of the students in both objective (Optical Mark Recognition sheets) and subjective papers were scrutinised after which the final revised marks were published. The BSE was forced to go for revision of marks following widespread resentment over faulty evaluation of answer sheets, incoherent marks, particularly in third language Sanskrit and Hindi subjects.

Such lapses surfaced soon after the publication of annual matriculation results on April 30.

The school and mass education department had ordered a thorough probe into the lapses in the evaluation process, which was mainly due to a technical error in reading the scores in the OMR sheets by the computer.

Many students’ organisations, including the All-India Democratic Students’ Organisation, had also staged series of demonstrations, demanding for revaluation of marks.

“The students could download and check their revised marks that had been uploaded and was available online on six websites,” said board president Dakhya Prasad Nanda.

An official said the answer copies of nearly six lakh students, including the OMR sheets and the subjective papers, were analysed and the revised marks had been republished on — www.indiaresults.com, www.bharatstudent.com, www.exametc.com, schools9.com and www.examresults.net.

“So far, the revision of statistics of the overall pass percentage and other data have not been complied as our priority was to upload the revised marks of the students. We hope to come out with the district-wise statistics in the next couple of days,” said Nanda.

Besides, the board has also decided to upload the scanned copies of the OMR sheets of all the six subjects on the website to avoid further complaints of wrong evaluation.

It is for the first time that the board decided to upload the answer sheets on the website.

Sources said that around 36 lakh OMR sheets would be uploaded on the BSE website in the next 24 hours.

A board official said students having any further complaints regarding their marks could apply for re-addition of marks from May 14. The students can download the application form from the official website www.bseodisha.nic.in or can procure it from the zonal office counters.

“We have also decided to dispose the re-addition applications at the earliest and necessary guidelines have been issued to all the officials concerned,” Nanda said.

Earlier, a student had to wait for nearly three months to seek their revised marks through the process of rechecking and re-addition.

Moreover, the certificate-cum-memorandum of marks and migration certificates will shortly be despatched to the respective schools.

A board official said that already the work for printing of the original certificates had begun following publication of the revised marks.
