Kendrapara, March 30: Two persons were critically injured when a group of wild boars attacked them in Rajarajeswarpur village in close vicinity of Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary today.
The injured persons have been identified as Pravat Baidya, 25, and Nilakantha Mandal, 35. They were initially rushed to Kendrapara district headquarters hospital. Later, they were shifted to a Cuttack-based hospital as their condition worsened.
The forest department is bearing the cost of treatment of the injured persons. A sum of Rs 20,000 has been disbursed towards the injured persons’ families, said divisional forest officer, Rajnagar mangrove (wildlife) forest division, Kedar Kumar Swain.
On October 18 last year, a local boy had died of Boar attack at Sasanapeta village.
