From Dil to Dil To Pagal Hai and beyond, the dhak dhak diva who won a million hearts and created flutters in Bollywood for over a decade, Madhuri Dixit, is my role model.
At 17, she made her debut in the world of Hindi movies with Abodh under big banner Rajshri Productions. Though her first film was not a great success, Madhuri earned rave reviews for her performance from within the film fraternity.
Four years and a few films later, she made her presence felt and attained the “star”status with blockbuster Tezaab opposite Anil Kapoor. Her dance in Ek Do Teen established her as a complete package of beauty and talent. She was also nominated for best actress by Filmfare for it.
After Tezaab, she never looked back and earned accolades with performances in movies such as Ram Lakhan, Prem Pratigya, Tridev, Parinda, Dil, Saajan and Khalnayak among others. But withYash Chopra’s Dil To Pagal Hai, it was just Madhuri all over Bollywood.
Having carved her niche in the film industry, Madhuri got married to a US-based Indian cardiac surgeon, Shriram Nene, and moved to the country. She has two sons.
She returned to Mumbai with her family in 2006 and made a comeback with Aaja Nachle. At present, she is judging a few reality shows on television.
Madhuri has been a constant source of inspiration for me. She has lied low at one point and then risen to the pinnacle of success, but with élan. The golden girl of Bollywood also has a golden heart. She is actively involved in social welfare activities.
