Bhubaneswar, July 14: Chief minister and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik today announced "Aama Sahara, Aama Unnati" (our town, our development), keeping in view the civic election due next year.
Naveen asked his partymen to go to the people in every ward with a message about the successful implementation of various welfare and development schemes of his government and counter the "misinformation" campaign of Opposition parties.
The announcement of the new campaign was made by Naveen at a meeting convened at the party headquarters to discuss the "Aama Gaon, Aama Bikash (our village, our development)" campaign for reaching out to the masses ahead of the 2019 general elections.
"We launched Aama Gaon Aama Bikas especially to carry forward the message of the pro-initiatives of our government to every village of our state. People should know the good work being done by our government, the transformation that is happening in infrastructure, livelihood and social sector. Through this, we should also effectively counter the misinformation campaign by the Opposition parties," said Naveen, addressing party leaders.
"As regards the urban areas, we are starting a similar programme - Ama Sahar, Ama Unnati - with similar objectives. The ward committees of notified area councils (NACs) and municipalities will comprise 50 members and 100 members in case of municipal corporations," he said.
Last week, BJP national president Amit Shah had come on a four-day visit to attend the party's "Mo Booth, Sabuthu Majboot" (my booth is the strongest) programme aimed at strengthening the party's organisational base. Shah had visited Ganjam, Jajpur and Khurda districts.
The BJP chief had called upon people to overthrow BJD and vote his party to power in the 2019 elections.
Against this backdrop, BJD today decided to constitute committees in every ward and booth to strengthen the party's organisational base both in urban and rural areas.
