Bhawanipatna: Fifty motorcycles loaded in a container truck were reduced to ashes on the outskirts of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district on Thursday.

The truck driver parked the vehicle near a petrol pump along NH-26 due to thick fog when he noticed smoke billowing out of the container, police said. On opening the lock, he found that the bikes had been charred. He called fire personnel, who doused the flames.

The truck was transporting the motorcycles from Haridwar to Jeypore for delivery to a dealer, police said. A probe in on in the case. PTI
