Baripada: A third-year engineering student of Mayurbhanj has grabbed eyeballs of local people by making a unique motorcycle of scrap materials.

Palabani resident Satyabrata Panda, an automobile engineering student of Mayurbhanj School of Engineering, Laxmiposhi, has created the wonder vehicle.

He learnt the "art of building a bike" by watching video clips on YouTube. He spent about two years in gathering scrap materials for the bike and assembling it.

"The engine of my bike has been made by combining the engine parts of Yamaha RX-100 and Yamaha-FZ. The bike looks similar to Café Racer which is lightweight but powerful. A Café Racer costs more than Rs 10 lakh, but the bike I made costs only around Rs 40,000," he said.

"I collected old parts from the junks of scrap dealers. It is a well balanced bike that is running fine on road and giving a mileage of 40 kilometres a litre. I have a dream of building two more bikes and a car with my ideas if I get tge opportunity and resources," he said.

"Panda has an innovative mind. He always looks forward to doing something new," said his neighbour and friend Sachin.
