Big cat exchange programme

Angul: The Satkosia Tiger Reserve in the district will receive six tigers from Madhya Pradesh once there is an improvement in the weather conditions.

Chief wildlife warden Sandeep Tripathy said six tigers aged below three years had already been identified at the Kanha National Tiger Reserve in the neighbouring state.Special arrangements have been made for relocation of the big cats to the Satkosia Tiger Reserve.

The state government has planned to relocate a male tiger cub in first phase, while the rest five will be brought in the subsequent phase. The human habitation in the core area of Satkosia has already been evacuated in view of the relocation. Besides, construction of a special netted enclosure has been complete.

Talks on Kotia

Odisha Human Rights Commission conducted a review meeting on the disputed Kotia group of villages in Koraput district in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. Discussions were made on welfare schemes to be implemented at the area.
