Bhubaneswar, April 20: From trendy celebrity hairdos to glowing skin, it was all about learning to keep it stylish at the All-Orissa Beauticians Meet.

More than 200 beauticians from various parts of the state came together to catch up with the latest beauty tips at a daylong seminar-cum-training workshop organised by a private cosmetics company today. Two Mumbai-based beauty experts conducted the training session at a city hotel. They offered a number of tips for skin and hair care through a live demonstration for the participants. There were different sessions for various aspects and techniques of beauty care, based on herbal products and aromatherapy. With the summer heat on the rise, skin care was given priority.

The training started with remedies for pigmentation followed by treatment for acnes, pimples and scars.

Techniques for make-up to suit various occasions and time of the day were also presented. “Make-up should be even and balanced as per one’s skin tone – whether it is oily, dry or normal. Cosmetics with a natural base do not become flaky and the effect lasts longer,” said Suniti Soni, the resource person for skincare.

“We trained them in other techniques that are the rage today. Many of the participants wished to learn the smoky eyed look and ways to get fuller, luscious lips through make up,” added Soni.

Coming to haircuts, hairstylist Neeraj offered the latest styles, which allowed scope for experimentation.”

Girls mostly prefer long hair and like to try out innovative cuts such as feather cut, razor and even a combination of two or more cuts.

“The classy U-cut and V-cut shapes are now in vogue. Beauticians can advice their clients on which hairdo will give a better shape to their face,” said Neeraj.

The training workshop is being conducted for almost a decade now and the number of participants has risen over the years. “We were exposed to new facial procedures. The experts also touched upon various patterns of strokes and ratio of ingredients in preparing the face pack,” said Surodhini Samal, a Bhubaneswar-based beautician.

Another professional from Angul, Baijayanti said besides youngsters, many older clients also thronged beauty parlours for massages, dark circle removal and anti-wrinkle treatment.

Also present at the workshop were scores of youngsters who wished to pursue a career as beauty experts.

“It was a very interesting and useful session. We got a fair idea about the advancements and latest techniques in metros,” said Anupama Swain.
