Ban on Section 66A of IT Act for greater common good

This section was really bad for a democratic and modern society. How can someone be prosecuted just because he or she posted something on social media and a few people found the post objectionable? The apex court has taken the right decision in banning it.

Thanks to the girl, who took the lead and fought for freedom of online speech for all Indians. The ban is a welcome step, which will ensure our faith in judiciary and democracy.

The ban would ensure freedom of speech. But there should be a reasonable restriction. Else people would post whatever they want. There are many social media users, who have poor knowledge and may be misled by the people with vested interests.

It’s great news that the Supreme Court strikes down the Section 66 A of IT Act terming it unconstitutional and untenable. Several innocent persons were targeted by people with vested interests through this section and it will no more happen.

Amid all the nonsensical bans in India in the recent times, finally, the apex court has banned something for greater common good. Scrapping of the Section 66 A of the IT Act is a welcome step and need of the hour.
