Balangir: Incessant rain since Friday evening has left the private bus terminal here in such a sorry state that commuters are finding it hard to enter the compound.

Daily commuter Aniruddha Das said: "I can't enter the bus stand as the enter area is waterlogged and muddy."

Another passenger Jayakrishna Mishra said it was very difficult for a passenger to wait for the bus during the rain. "At the bus stand, rainwater mixes up with drain water. It's unhygienic," he said.

The town residents have been demanding shifting of the private bus terminal for quite a few years.

Balangir Private Bus Owners' Association president Hemanta Kumar Panda said: "Work of the new bus terminal has begun. We are ready to move to the new terminal as soon as it is completed."
