Bhubaneswar, Feb. 10: Stunning decorative items for the interiors are on display at the home and décor exhibition on at the Janata Maidan here.

Along with the artefacts, real estate options and construction equipment are also available at the mega international trade fair under way at the same venue.

There are 200 odd kiosks at the interior décor fair and 250 at the mega trade fair. Colourful cushions with striking embroidery and embellishments are one of the most sought after products so are the attractive marble show pieces carved into decorative elephants, vases and even centre tables with unbelievable art and paintings.

The marble items also include beautiful neckpieces and bracelets that have been brought by artisans from Karachi in Pakistan and from Rajasthan too.

“We have been coming to Bhubaneswar for different craft fairs. Our smaller decorative articles are very popular here. But the bigger showpieces such as marble vases and large hangings are not that sought after,” said an artisan from Sikri Handicrafts of Rajasthan who also offer exquisite puja ghar or miniature temples to be placed in houses.

Classic sofa sets and diwans, glass lamps from Turkey, a wide range of fashion accessories from Thailand and attires from Bangladesh as well Odisha are some highlights of the fair. Delhi stores offer huge wall clocks, exquisite cutlery and glass dishes while many national brands have displayed bathroom and kitchen furnishings as well as interior fittings. Wooden carving of Egypt and Ghana are also a part of the home décor exhibition. Onyx carving from Pakistan is receiving great response at the show.

“We are really spoilt for choice at the fair. Onyx and marble crafts are really striking,” said Anupama Swain, a homemaker. Real estate like apartments, simplex and duplex and financing for the same is also a part of the trade fair that is hosted jointly by Real Estate Developers’ Association and GS Marketing.

“We are extremely delighted with the response of the city residents,” said Prakash Shah, CEO of GS Marketing.
