Bhubaneswar: The state government will monitor the learning outcome of the students through mobile app to ensure transparency in the process.

The school and mass education secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra on Thursday issued directive in this regard to all the district education officers, district project co-ordinators and block education officers through videoconferencing.

The learning outcome will be assessed in three parameters - Ujjwal, Utthan and Utkarsh.

Under the Ujjwal parameter, the learning outcome of the students from Class I to V would be assessed, while under Utthan and Utkarksh parameters, the learning outcome of the students of classes VI and VII and the students of classes VIII, IX and X would be assessed, respectively.

"It will be implemented within the next three months once the modalities are finalised," said a department official.

It has also been decided that there will be three directorates - Directorate of Elementary Education (to deal with education from Class I to VIII), Directorate of Secondary Education (classes IX and X) and Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (classes XI and XII).

Primary, upper primary and high schools within a distance of 100 metres that are running as separate entities will be merged, and one headmaster will be appointed for Class I to X.

A slew of reforms would also be taken up in the school and mass education department.

Odisha will work with Niti Aayog to bring about transformation in the education sector in the state under the Sustainable Action for Transfor-ming Human capital (Sath) programme.

Also, teachers in the state will have to appear for a competitive examination instead of marks to grab a job in government schools.

The recruitment of postgraduate teachers for Plus Two colleges will be conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission and the secondary-level teachers will be recruited by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission.
