
Bhubaneswar, June 6: Online and offline admissions for Plus Three science, arts and commerce courses have begun.
The student academic management system (Sams) is conducting the admission process for more than 700 degree colleges across the state.
This year, students can apply both online and offline for admission. The common application form is available online.
Those applying online can download the common application form from the website of higher education department, www.dheodisha.gov.in. Offline applicants can collect the forms from any of the 620 Sams resource centres across the state.
Like previous years, BJB Junior College and Ravenshaw Junior College are expected to have the highest cut-off marks in the science stream, followed by Khallikote Junior College, Berhampur, and Basic Science College, Bhubaneswar.
The first selection list will be out on June 28 while the second and third merit lists will be declared on July 7 and 16 respectively. The entire admission process will completed by July 18 and classes will begin from July 19. The last date for submitting copy of online and offline application forms along with supporting documents and fees at Sams resource centres is June 21.
BJB College had emerged as the most sought after college in the state last year with the cut-off marks being the highest there in all the three streams. For arts, the cut-off marks percentages stood at 77, followed by 70.67 and 70.5 at Nayagarh Autonomous College and the Rajendra College in Balangir respectively.
Of the total 90,643 candidates who appeared the examination Plus Two in science, 73,523 had passed in the examination in science stream.
A total of 1,74,237 students had passed the Plus-II examination in arts stream, whereas 20,044 were from commerce stream this year.
Students who have passed from CBSE and ICSE boards are also expected to apply to the colleges of the state.
Last year, classes had started on August 11. "We want to wrap up the process early and start classes at the earliest this year," said a senior officer of the higher education department.
