Bhubaneswar, May 25: About 2,300 aspirants from the state took for the JEE (advanced) entrance test today.
The entrance was held in two parts — paper I from 9am to 12 noon and paper II from 2pm to 5pm.
JEE (advanced) is the stage-II entrance of the JEE that would make the candidates eligible for admission in the 16 IITs, the five Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research branches, Indian School of Mines at Dhanbad and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology at Rae Bareli.
The entrance test was held at five centres in Odisha. While 1,900 students appeared at the four centres in Bhubaneswar — IIT Bhubaneswar, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, No. 2 and DAV Public School in Pokhariput, the remaining 400 students appeared at the Delhi Public School centre in Rourkela.
The exam comprised of two objective-type papers that assessed comprehension, reasoning and analytical skills of the candidates. Both the three-hour papers consisted of three separate sections on chemistry, physics and mathematics.
Registrar B.K. Ray of IIT, Bhubaneswar, which is co-ordinating the entrance, said that the exam went smoothly without any untoward incident.
A total of 1.35 lakh students will take the test across the country and results are scheduled to be published on June 19.
A total of 49,000 students had taken the JEE (main) held in April.
The answer keys will be published on June 1 and answer sheets will be published between June 8 and June 11. Students interested to take admission in architecture have to appear for an aptitude test on June 26, the results of which will be published on June 29.
The OJEE authorities will conduct counselling for students, who will be admitted to technical colleges in the state, at the office in Gandamunda. The date is yet to be finalised.
