Imphal, March 4: Youth Club Cum Information Centre lifted the champion’s trophy, defeating Hockey Union by 4-2 goals in the 21st U-14 Boys’ State Level Hockey Tournament at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium.

Youth Club took the field as M. Dinachandra Singh struck in the 18, 21st, 24th minutes for a hattrick to secure a 3-goal lead at the end of first half.

T. Deymin scored the final goal for Youth Club in the 33rd minute for the 4-0 lead.

The only solace for Hockey Union was in the two goals struck by W. Robinson Singh in the 35th and 40th minute but too late to save the game.

Youth Club collected Rs 4,000 along with the trophy while Hockey Union bagged Rs 2,000 along with the runners-up trophy. Uchekon SYUC bagged the third spot as they hammered down Chandel YCPA by 9-1 goals yesterday. In the girls’ category, Chandel YCPA beat Moral Education Intellectual Renascent Athletic Association by a solitary goal to claim the champions’ title. Th. Anamika Devi fetched the winning goal for Chandel in the 18th minute of play. Chandel got Rs 3,000 along with the champion’s title while Moral Education had to be content with Rs 1,000 and the runners-up trophy.

Elected: Arambam Santoshkumar Singh has been re-elected president for the term of 2012-16 of the All Manipur Football Association in the election held today at the AMSA Complex. Santoshkumar beat his opponent O. Guneshor Singh by 59-23 votes. Kh. Mohori, K. Baruni, P. Ragumani, K. Yaima, Tongjahoa Kipgen have been selected vice-presidents.

Children’s sport: Angels Palace Churachandpur bagged the overall team champion’s title of the 5th Inter-Children Home Sports Meet at Khuman Lampak main stadium. Thang Biak Sang of Angels Palace bagged the best athlete award in the boys’ category while Thuamneiching of Angles Palace took the title in the girls’ category.
