Agartala: The first Indian revolutionary who described and examined the philosophy of Karl Marx was Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Tripura University vice-chancellor Vijaykumar Laxmikantrao Dharurkar said here on Wednesday.
While addressing a programme here on Wednesday afternoon, Dharurkar, who is also from Maharashtra, said Tilak was inspired by a freedom fighter of Ireland. He critically explained the idea of Marx.
Marx was a German philosopher, economist, journalist and political scientist who spoke on the philosophy of a classless society.
"The concept of national education is missing in India. We have to re-establish, re-evaluate our university and colleges to make them centres of nationalist education. Tilak, who was a revolutionary, brought a new agenda for changing the scenario of India," Dharurkar said.
