Tripura candidate makes mark

Agartala, May 5: A Tripura-born candidate has secured the 47th position in the merit list of the civil service examinations, the results of which were announced yesterday by the Union Public Service Commission.

The UPSC authorities yesterday notified the names of 910 successful candidates for the IAS, IFS, IPS and categories A and B of central government services.

Tripura’s Debapriya Bardhan was placed in 47th position in the overall merit list.

He was born on February 2, 1986 to teachers Priyatosh and Binapani Bardhan at Bilaspur village under Kailasahar subdivision.

He had done his mechanical engineering course at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology and stood first in the final engineering examination.

He then joined the Sterline multinational company in 2007 and the National Thermal Power Corporation at Noida and then struck out to achieve his dream.
