Guwahati, Nov. 20: Participants of the Indo-Asean car rally will have more reasons to cheer once they reach Bangkok. Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan will join them there.
A top official of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta were supposed to join the rally from Guwahati.
?But certain preoccupation of the actors and other logistic problems led to cancellation of their trip to the city. Shah Rukh, has, however, confirmed that he will be there at Bangkok,? he said. The rally will reach Bangkok on December 8. The actor will stay at Hotel Plaza in the Thai capital on December 7 and join the rally the following morning.
The CII is in touch with Preity Zinta too. But she has not confirmed her participation as yet, sources said.
?Preity may fly to Switzerland in the first week of December for shooting. If her trip to Switzerland is postponed there is every possibility of her joining the rally. Her confirmation is expected by November 30,? a CII official said. The official, however, refused to reveal names of the other celebrities who would join the rally there. ?That?s a secret,? he said.
From Bangkok, the rally will pass through Thonburi, Samut Songkhram, Paktho, Phetchaburi, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumpon and Phun Phin before stopping for the night on December 8 at Hotel Diamond Plaza at Surat Thani. Sources said Shah Rukh Khan might join the rallyists up to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
Hotels in the city are busy preparing special dishes for the guests. While special ethnic dishes will be served, separate menus, taking into consideration the food habits of participants from abroad, have also been drawn up. The dinner theme at Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok on Sunday will be ?Flavours of the Northeast?.
Wasim Ahmed, the event manager of the inauguration ceremony, said the list of guests and celebrities would be finalised by Sunday. He said two ministers from each of the participating countries were expected.
