School cricket meet

Guwahati: The City Cricket Coaching Centre will organise its first all-Assam inter-school prize-money cricket meet at Dispur Parade Ground from June 28. The winners will pocket Rs 6,000 and the runners-up Rs 3,000. There will also be Man of the Match awards for every tie and prizes for outstanding performers.

Bhakti Medhi re-elected

Guwahati: Assam Cricket Association vice-president Bhakti Medhi has been re-elected general secretary of the Goalpara District Sports Association in its recent biennial general meeting. He beat Kamal Krishna Gupta in the elections for the 35-member executive body, while Jiten Das was unanimously elected president of the association.

Grading test

Guwahati: The All Assam Taekwondo Association will hold a black belt dan test and national referee seminar at Kanaklata Indoor Stadium here from July 5 to 8.

Team announced

Guwahati: The Assam Tennis Ball Cricket Association has named the state team for the XIVth Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship to be played at Roorkee from June 26 to 29. The team will leave from here on June 23. The squad: Dipak Kumar Singh (capt), Amit Kumar Yadav, S. Rajib Singh, Surendra Prasad, Binod Rajak, Sankar Sarma, Pradip Mahanta, Surjit Borah, Rahul Das, Gopal Singh, Rajat Jha, Prag Das and Nadim Souket (manager).

Muay Thai feat

Imphal: The Manipur Amateur Muay Thai Council has lauded Likmabam Suraj and Longjam Jandhobi for bagging bronze medals in the recent World Muay Thai Championship at Bangkok. Suraj annexed the junior boys? below-57 kg bronze while Jandhobi clinched the bronze medals in the Muay Thai Waikru event. Waikru is a form of Muay Thai which was introduced this time in the World Cup Championship as a medal event.
