Manipur duo brings laurels

Imphal: O. Joy Singh and Kh. Kiranmala Devi of Manipur bagged bronze medals in the sixth Asian wushu championship at Myanmar National Stadium, Yangon, recently. Joy won the bronze medal in men?s shansou 70kg class, defeating Khoo Meng Yang of Malaysia. Kiranmala defeated her Korean opponent Jung Kwang Mi in the 48kg shansou event. About 530 competitors and officials from 24 Asian nations participated in the championship.

Karate team

Imphal: The Karate-Do Association of Manipur has selected 27 players and three officials for the first junior and senior Northeast karate championship in Itanagar from December 18. The squad will leave for the competition on December 16.

Guwahati: The 32nd all-Assam inter-district powerlifting championship will be held at Jamuguri in Sivasagar district from December 24 to 26. Nearly 200 lifters from 24 affiliated districts of the Assam Powerlifting Association will participate in the champiosnhip.

ACA meet

Guwahati: The Assam Cricket Association has convened a governing body meeting here from 4 pm on Thursday to discuss the two India versus England under-19 matches here on February 10 and 11.
