Guwahati: The Assam women’s team emerged as the Indian round team event champions and their male counterparts finished third in the Senior National Archery Championship that concluded in Bhopal on Saturday. Kamini Oro won three gold medals for the state in the 30metres event elimination round and team event. Pallabi Boro won two silver and a bronze and Anima Basumatary won a gold in 50metres event. Both teams have qualified for the 34th National Games to be held in Jharkhand.Faculty champ
Guwahati: Faculty Higher Secondary School, Guwahati, annexed the CBSE Cluster I under-19 boys’ football tournament title defeating Gems National Public School 4-3 via tiebreakers in the final, organised by South Point School, at Newfield here on Saturday. The match ended in a 2-2 draw in regulation time. Mt Zion School, Imphal, finished third, beating Miles Bronson Residential School.Chess
Guwahati: Simran Ahmed of Pearl Valley English School emerged the under-13 champion in the PC Borooah Selection Chess tournament held at the academy premises from October 29 to 31. Kaustabh Neogi of Delhi Public School claimed the under-17 title tallying 6.5 points and Prittish Das of Holy Home School won the under-9 group crown.
