Guwahati, Nov. 23: Lalit Chandra Bharali College and B. Borooah College posted convincing victories in their respective matches of the 1st All-Assam Lauhapuruah Premoda Kanta Sarma Trophy inter-college cricket tournament at Latasil ground here today.
While LCB College overcame Pandu College by 12 runs, B. Borooah College outplayed Jigyas Academy by 44 runs.
In the first match, LCB College elected to bat and posted 149 for nine in the stipulated 20 overs with Ranjit Ali topscoring with a solid 53 hitting seven fours and a six to be eventually named the Man of the Match.
Surajit Bora contributed 37 runs to the total. He hit five fours and two sixes during his knock.
In their chase, Pandu College were all out for 130 in 19.3 overs. Aniket Bhowmick scored 36 (3x4) while Surajit Bora scalped three for 30.
In the other match, B. Borooah College elected to bat and were restricted to a modest total of 119 for eight in the stipulated 20 overs with Abdul Monarch topscoring for the side with 32 with the help of five boundaries.
Saurav Nath of Jigyas Academy claimed four wickets for 23.
Jigyas Academy during their chase, were bundled out for a paltry total of 75 in 15.3 overs as Manoj Goswami of B. Borooah College went on a rampage and notched up three wickets for five runs to be adjudged the Man of the Match.
On Saturday, Pragjyotish College handed a five-run marginal defeat to Chandrapur College and Guwahati Medical College registered a 26-run win over Dispur College.
Tomorrow, Guwahati Commerce College will play West Guwahati Commerce College.
