Guwahati, Sept. 12: CID officials today arrested six persons, including two minor girls, from Guwahati railway station on charges of trafficking.
The arrested were identified as Bibhuti Baruah, Rupali Baruah, Kabita Barma and Sonia Barma alias Sweety, Mitali Baruah (13) and Geetali Baruah (16).
“It is suspected that Bibhuti and Rupali, who claim to be husband and wife, were taking the girls to Mumbai to force them into flesh trade. The picture will be clear only after the accused are interrogated,” a CID source said.
The six were going to board the Dadar Express to Mumbai when they were arrested, the source added.
Arrests: Police today arrested Satyakam Chetia and Binay Bhardwaj in connection with the clash at Bora Service in Guwahati. They will be produced in court after they are released from the hospital, a police official said.
Chetia and Bhardwaj were injured in the clash that left two youths dead.
Soldiers killed
Four personnel of the Assam Rifles were killed and two injured in an ambush by militants at Leisibung in Imphal East district this afternoon, reports our correspondent from Imphal.
Police said militants attacked the two-vehicle convoy of the Assam Rifles at 4 pm, killing four soldiers on the spot.
The two injured persons have been admitted to the Leimakhong army hospital.
