Rizuwana tops women's rankings

Guwahati, Oct. 29: The All Assam Tennis Association has released the latest state-level rankings for the season ahead with Rizuwana Begum topping both the under-18 girls’ as well as the women’s tally.

In the rankings released on Tuesday, Rizuwana Begum also ranks second in the tally of under-14 girls. She trails Manaswini Hazarika in the under-14 rankings.

Siv Kumar Prajapati tops the men’s tally while Rupam Gogoi is ranked number one in the under-18 boys’ rankings. Partha Konwar and Manab Kumar Chakma top the tallies in the boys’ under-12 and under-14 age groups.

The top eight seeds in different age groups are:

Boys under-12: Partha Konwar, Mayank Borkakoty, Tanvir Arman, Krishna Kakoty, Parijit Krishnarishi, Nishant Pathak, Bhaiju Panging, Parikhit Somani.

Under-14: Manab Kumar Chakma, Sidhant Deka, Madhuryya Dutta, Arunangshu Borthakur, Sushanta Mohanty, Abhinanshu Borthakur, Kuwar Singh Tater, Zonaid Toshif.

Under-18: Rupam Gogoi, Sabir Hussain, Tutu Thapa, Sushanta Mohanty, Trinayan Talukdar, Arunjoy Barua, Rekibul Hussain, Alok Kumar Tripathy.

Men: Siv Kumar Prajapati, Kaushik Das, Rupam Boro, Tutu Thapa, Chandra Sekhar Mohanty, Ranjit Dutta, Sushanta Mohanty, Nayanjyoti Bora.

Girls under-14: Manaswini Hazarika, Rizuwana Begum, Marisha Dutta, Chitrangi Kakaty, Sumaya Begum, Kajri Mohan Roy, Sanghamitra Thakur, Nishi Gondha Misra.

Under-18: Rizuwana Begum, Pamir Gogoi, Sanghamitra Thakur, Sumaya Begum, Nishi Gondha Misra, Anangsha Alomyan, Shristi Barua, Marisha Dutta.

Women: Rizuwana Begum, Sumaya Begum, Nishi Gondha Misra, Pamir Gogoi, Shreyeshi Dutta and Anangsha Alomyan.

The AATA has also finalised the calendar of events starting with the Yonex Open at India Club from November 2 to 9. It will be followed by the annual ITF World Junior Ranking Championship at the Chachal Tennis Complex from November 24 to 29 and the 17th North East Open at North East Tennis Foundation from December 15 to 20.

The 18th Jorhat Open will be held at Jorhat Tennis Club from December 23 to 28 and the Sivasagar Open at Sivasagar Tennis Club from January 7 to 11.

Zaloni Club of Duliajan will host the All Assam Junior Tennis Championship from January 19 to 25 and the Golaghat Tennis Club will organise the 12th North East meet on the club premises from January 28 to February 1.

The second Kaliyani Club Tournament will be held on the club premises at Numaligarh Refinery Ltd from March 18 to 21 while the date for the ninth Nurul Amin Junior Tennis Championship to be held at the Nagaon Tennis Club is yet to be finalised.
