Guwahati, Nov. 23: Assam lad Parikshit Somani of India cruised into the boys' singles semi-finals in the ITF Junior World Ranking Tennis Tournament under way at All Assam Tennis Association Complex, here.

In the quarter-finals today, Parikshit defeated compatriot Himanshu Mor 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the round of four.

In another boys' quarter-final match, wild card entry Sumitpal Singh of India caused a major upset, defeating fifth seed Srivatsa Ratakonda in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to book a semi-finals berth.

In the girls' singles quarter-finals, third seed Shivani Swarup Ingle of India crashed out of the tournament losing to seventh seed Sravya Chilakalapudi of India.

In the other two boys' singles all Indians quarter-finals, second seed Nitin Kumar Sinha defeated sixth seed Rishabh Sarda and fourth seed Aditya Vashistha eased past seventh seed Kabir Manrai.

In girls' singles round of eight matches, top seed Eunhye Lee of Korea ousted sixth seed Indian opponent Alia Ebrahim, while second seed Maria Krupenina of Russia prevailed over fifth seed Shrivall Rashmika Bhamidipaty of India and fourth seed Vaidehi Choudhury of India got the better of eighth seed Harsha Sai Challa.

Parikshit also made it to the boys' doubles semi-finals. His second seed tandem with compatriot Kabir Manrai beat another Indian duo of Arjun Channathimmiah Honnappa and Siddharth Thakran.

In another boys' doubles quarter-final match, unseeded Indian duo of Sacchit Sharrmaand Amit Beniwal upset third seed pair of Abhimanyu Vannemreddy and Rishabh Sharda.

Top seed pair Nitin Kumar Sinha and Aditya Vashistha defeated Achint Bhagat and Bharath Nishok Kumaran, while the fourth seed duo of Karan Srivastava and Nikit Reddy overcame Naithaolin Calvin Golmei and Sumitpal Singh in the other two quarter-finals.

In the girls' doubles quarter-finals, top seed Shrivalli Rashmika Bhamidipaty (India) and Maria Krupenia (Russia) prevailed over Indian duo of Shivani Manjanna and Rashmika Rajan 6-3, 6-3, fourth seed Tanisha Kashyap and Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi of India overcame Gauri Bhagia (India) and Aanya Goel (USA), Eunhye Lee (Korea) and Bhavya Ramineni (India) overcame Prinkle Singh and Aaliya Ebrahim of India and Sharannya Gaware and Sivanuja Peddada eased past Divya Vaani M. and Ishwari Seth.
