NRL gains Rs 279 crore

Guwahati, June 2: Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) posted a net profit of Rs 279.26 crore and a record sales turnover of Rs 8,972.19 crore in the financial year 2010-11, which is the highest ever since commissioning of the refinery. It registered a growth of 13.9 per cent over last year’s turnover of Rs 7,874.09 crore.

A NRL communiqué said the company’s net profit of Rs 279.26 crore rose by 20.3 per cent over last year’s profit of Rs 232.08 crore. The annual accounts of the company for the financial year 2010-11 were approved in the meeting of its board of directors, recently.

During the year 2010-11, the refinery processed 2,250 metric tonnes of crude oil.

There had been no record of any major fire during 2010-11 and the refinery has been performing safely over nine years.

The NRL implemented the prestigious diesel quality upgrade project at the cost of Rs 435 crore, making it the first refinery in the state to produce Euro-IV grade high speed diesel conforming to the stringent parameters laid down by the auto fuel policy of the Centre.

Besides, the NRL was also the first among other refineries in the state to produce Euro-IV motor spirit (petrol). With this, the NRL’s product mix includes both Euro-III and Euro-IV motor spirit and high-speed diesel.
