Wage revision Boy killed Damage Holiday Arrested Meeting

Wage revision

Guwahati, March 5: The Labour Commission of Assam has revised the rate of wages, holidays, hours of work and conditions of skilled and unskilled workmen employed by contractors. According to the revision, the rate of wages of an unskilled workmen with ITI certificate will be Rs 277. Skilled workmen other than ITI certificate holders will get Rs 175 and unskilled workmen Rs 169, an official communiqué today said.

Boy killed

Tezpur: A two-year-old boy was killed on the spot and five workers were injured in a landslide at Dukumpani under Rupa police station in West Kemang district in Arunachal Pradesh around 2pm on Tuesday. The injured were shifted to Bomdila civil hospital.

Damage

Tinsukia: A large number of trees of a small forest near Tamulybon gaon under Digboi police station in the district were damaged on Monday night following a fight between two tuskers.

Holiday

Sivasagar: The Sivasagar district administration has declared a local holiday on March 11 for Shivratri.

Arrested

Dhubri: Two drug traffickers — Sahjamal Ali and Aminur Sheikh of Dhubri town were arrested with sleeping tablets, injections and cough syrup bottles during a drive against drug peddlers and addicts by newly appointed town sub-inspector Jayanta Das on Monday night.

Meeting

Guwahati: Assam minority affairs minister Nazrul Islam has convened a meeting of sitting and former minority MLAs and MPs along with PCC minority leaders to discuss challenges posed by the AIUDF in lower Assam and Barak Valley, among others, on Thursday.
