NISA hold Neroca

A late-minute burst of energy saw defending champions Neroca FC and former champions NISA settle for a 1-1 goal draw to share a point each in the 10th Manipur State League match played at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

Imphal, Oct. 19: A late-minute burst of energy saw defending champions Neroca FC and former champions NISA settle for a 1-1 goal draw to share a point each in the 10th Manipur State League match played at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

Touted to be a clash of titans, both teams failed to entertain the capacity crowd with the match rendered goalless in the regulation time.

But an added time of four minutes saw L. Sanatomba Singh of NISA make his presence count as he shot home after getting a ball from Kh. Naoton Singh for the lead in the 92nd minute of play.

But the very next minute Neroca FC got the equaliser with M. Dhananjoy Singh heading home after collecting a long throw from skipper Md Sohail to level the score.

Neroca FC have 17 points from five wins, two drawn games while NISA got 14 points from four wins, two drawn games and one defeat in the league.

In another match, Anouba Imagi Mangal and Southern Sporting Union played a goalless draw . Anouba Imagi Mangal have 14 points from four wins, two draws and one defeat while Southern Sporting Union have 12 points from three wins, three draws and one defeat.

Winner's Cup: Sagoland United hold KPSC Kakching to a 1-1 goal draw in the inaugural match of the 20th Winner's Cup played at SAI NERC ground, Takyelpat.

Aboy Manoharmayum scored for the Sagolband team while Ngamneiril Kom fetched the equaliser for the Kakching team. Altogether eight teams are in the fray. The meet is being played on home-and-away basis.
