Tinsukia: Wish to do something for a child? Reclaimed Foundation - a Tinsukia-based organisation formed by 13 college students is there to help you.
As part of the Children's Day celebration, the organisation has taken an initiative to bring a smile on faces of some 100-odd children from across four government schools in the district during an event at Tamulbari field in Tinsukia town on Tuesday.
One of the volunteers of the organisation, Dolly Agarwal, said, "The idea is to spread the joy of living by sharing. We already have 80 applicants who want to do something for a child."
"We have co-ordinated with four government schools which will send the children to the venue. Reclaimed Foundation will only act as the juncture where the person making the wish will meet the children," she added.
The organisation collects clothes and books from people and hands them over to the underprivileged.
It has been working in Tinsukia since last year, conducting various monthly activities.
"We shall make chits of all the wishes that have come to us as entries. Each child will pick a chit and the wish written there will be fulfilled by the individual or the couple making the wish at the venue itself. For example, if a child had wished to have Maggie, the person will actually make the instant noodles and serve it to the child," Agarwal said.
Responding to a question by The Telegraph on why the event was being organised a week before Children's Day, Agarwal said, "On November 14, several volunteers have examinations. Hence, we decided to do it a week before."
