Neroca defeat ASEB, in final

Imphal, Dec. 21: Neroca FC sailed into the final, beating Assam State Electricity Board 2-0 in the 59th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament, 2015, at Khuman Lampak main stadium.

Both teams had a cautious approach to the game but Neroca FC unfurled its wings in the seventh minute when Nigerian recruit Offor Emeka Christian banged home the opening goal after collecting a pass from Kh. Satish Singh for the lead.

In the second half, Neroca FC lost no time blasting home the second goal with Satish making a header off a free kick by Imran Khan in the 48th minute for the victory today. Apurba Phukan and Biplab Kundu of ASEB and Neroca FC defender A. Jeremiah Elekwachi were shown yellow cards.

Neroca FC will clash with Southern Sporting Union in the final match on Wednesday at 1pm.

Neroca FC have won the title thrice - in 2000, 2011, 2012 while Southern Sporting Union have won the title four times in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2006.

Hockey: South Eastern Youth Organisation beat Ideal Club, Tera 6-3 to claim the champion's title of the sixth Under-16 Girls' Hockey Tournament, 2015, played at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium. In the boys' category, Bishnupur District Hockey Association beat SYUC 4-3 to lift the champion's trophy.

Thang ta: Manipur claimed the overall team champion's title of the 61st National School Games for under-17 and under-14 boys and girls in Thang ta championship 2015 held at Imphal.

Cricket: PTRC Patsoi registered a five-wicket victory against NAPSA Kha, Imphal, in the MCA 2nd Plate Tournament 2014-15 played at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium. PTRC bowler Pradeep Singh was adjudged the Man of the Match for his four- wicket haul.

Veteran cricket: Kuki Sporting Club, Lambulane, beat Blue Hawk Khurai by 76 runs in the 13th Manipur Veteran Cricket Championship, 2015-16, played at Langthabal.

Badminton: Joyce claimed the women's singles title beating Ph. Inakhunbi Devi 21-10, 21-6 in the first S. Biramangol Memorial Non-State Badminton Tournament, 2015, at MBA Indoor Hall, DM College campus. In the boys' under-13 final match, Jomi Singam will meet M. Sirzeet tomorrow.
