Nagaland Speaker

The first session of the 13th Nagaland Assembly on Tuesday elected Vikho-o Yhoshu as Speaker.

Dimapur: The first session of the 13th Nagaland Assembly on Tuesday elected Vikho-o Yhoshu as Speaker.

All the elected members took oath before Pro-tem Speaker Mmhonlumo Kikon.

Chief minister Neiphiu Rio congratulated the Speaker and urged all members cutting across party lines to co-operate among themselves and ensure a cordial atmosphere and smooth functioning of the House.

Vikho-o Yhoshu was elected for three consecutive terms in 2008, 2013 and 2018. He was elected with 33 votes of the NDPP against 26 of the NPF.

NPF leader T.R. Zeliang also congratulated the Speaker.

Yhoshu called on the members to shoulder the responsibility and confidence that people have reposed on them to shape their destiny.Thanking them for the confidence reposed in him, he said he would do his best to live up to their expectations.
