MoU with SBI to pay govt salary

Guwahati, March 5: Dispur today signed a memorandum of understanding with the State Bank of India for payment of salaries to its officers and employees.

Principal secretary (finance) Himanshu Sekhar Das and chief general manager, Northeast circle, Rajnish Kumar, signed the MoU at a function of the state secretariat here.“The step will simplify and streamline the process of payment of salaries to government employees. At the same time, several benefits and concessions will be provided by the bank to officers and employees covered under the state government salary package,” B.P. Gupta, AGM, (PR and community services banking,) SBI, told The Telegraph.

Some benefits under the package include instant overdraft of two months’ net salary, concessions on interest, processing charge, margin on personal segment loans, free accidental insurance up to Rs 10 lakh.

“Basically, employees covered under the package will avail benefits not applicable to one who holds an account in SBI but is not covered under it. Under the package, the employees will be categorised into four groups — silver, gold, diamond and platinum — on the basis of their basic salaries and grades. The platinum group gets maximum benefits,” Rajib Bhagawati, PR department, SBI, said.

Chief secretary Naba Kumar Das, Paban Kumar Borthakur, commissioner and secretary (finance), additional chief secretaries were also present, along with SBI general manager (NW-I) Mahendra Aditya Sahu along with deputy general managers and other officials of the bank.
