Imphal, June 17: The cancer centre at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has asked the Manipur health department to look into the rampant use of a “miracle medicine” prepared by an 82-year-old healer in Churachandpur district.

The head of RIMS radiotherapy department and regional cancer centre, Th. Tomcha Singh, said Chawlien, the healer, was putting the lives of the people at stake by freely distributing his medicine, based on a herb locally known as ranlung damdai.

Chawlien lives at Saikot, 3.5km from the district headquarters in Churachandpur.

“I don’t force anyone to use the medicine. I am following god’s will,” Chawlien earlier told The Telegraph.
