Guwahati, Nov. 17: Assam girl Marisha Dutta will vie for double crowns in the finals of the India Club-AITA Championship Series under-18 tennis tournament at the India Club courts here tomorrow.
Dutta today made it to both the singles and doubles finals. In the singles semi-finals, the third seed beat eighth seed Assam girl Maitry Phukan 6-4, 6-4 and partnered Amrita Nath of Assam to defeat fourth seed Assam duo of Aakankshaa Das and Gloriya Daimary 6-2, 6-1 for a doubles final berth. Dutta will play second seed Saumya Vig of Gujarat in the final tomorrow. Vig today drubbed fourth seed Assam opponent Priyana Kalita 6-1, 6-4 in the round of four.
In the doubles final, Dutta and Nath will meet Assam tandem of Rijuwana Egum and Priyana Kalita who upset second seed Assam pair of Jayati Sharma and Protiksha Sharma 6-1, 6-1 in the semi-finals.
In the boys’ singles final tomorrow, third seed Siddarth Reddy will meet fourth seed Keneisezotuo Whourie. In the semi-finals, Whorie toppled Deepak Vishavkarma of Delhi and Reddy beat Nirbhay Singh Soni of Chandigarh.
