Guwahati, Jan. 4: Latasil Cricket Coaching Centre and River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre posted close wins in their respective league matches in the 16th Servo Challenge Trophy cricket tournament at Latasil ground here today.
While Latasil academy got the better of Cosmo Cricket Club by 18 runs, River Rine club registered a marginal one-wicket victory over Maharana Athletic Club.
In the first match, in reply to Latasil’s respectable 149 for eight in the stipulated 20 overs, Cosmo were all out in 18.5 overs, with only 131 runs on board.
Parikshit Bhuyan with a solid 43 to his name, was the batting mainstay for Latasil. Himangsu Das made 34 and Pusparna Sarma contributed a useful 25 to the team total.
Dilip Singh of Cosmo scalped three wickets for 28 runs, while Sambhu Jha notched up two for 22. For Cosmo, Sambhu Jha scored 44 and Binod Kumar remained not out on 24. Himangsu Das this time excelled with the ball and notched up three wickets conceding 26 runs to be declared the Man of the Match. Brajen Saikia and Dhrubajyoti Laskar picked up two wickets each for 19 and 24 runs respectively.
In the afternoon fixture, Maharana elected to bat and were all out for 141 in 18.4 overs. In reply, River Rine reached 143 for nine in 19.4 overs.
Tapajyoti Pandit (40), Danish Das (36) and Manoj Malo (11) were the notable scorers for Maharana while Gautam Kalita and Kaustav Kashyap Gogoi of River Rine picked up three wickets each. Harekrishna Roy claimed two for 19.
Asif Mehboob topscored for River Rine with 28 runs and Nabajeet Kaushik remained unbeaten on 22. Kangkan D. Baharli (20) and Gautam Kalita (18) were the other notable scorers for the side.
Bipul Koch, Binoy Rawat and Manoj Malo of Maharana snared two wickets each.
Gautam Kalita was adjudged Man of the Match.
Ankurjyoti Club will meet River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre and City Cricket Coaching Centre will lock horns with Star Cricket Coaching Centre in tomorrow’s matches.
