Dibrugarh, Nov. 22: Sandhani Sangha, Karimganj, today blanked out Marigaon Sports Club, Morigaon 3-0 in a first-round match of the 11th Assam Club Championship football tournament at Chabua near here.

Kenny Kabui put Karimganj in the lead with a brace in the first half itself. He found the net in the 26th and 44th minutes to help his side lead 2-0 at breather.

Into the second session, the Morigaon men went all out to reduce the margin but failed to cash in on several opportunities, owing to poor finishing.

The Sandhani Sangha men used the opponents’ raids as opportunities to launch counter-attacks and the efforts paid off in the 64th minute when Maizong Kabui found the net for the third goal.

Heaven Blue AC, North Cachar Hills, squeezed into the pre-quarterfinals by virtue of a walkover against Behali Tea Estate, which failed to turn up for the match today.
